This painting is a two-layer composition consisting of a background cyanotype that was printed from the projection of light made outside of my studio from a nearby skylight. The print features an x-ray like shadow made by the iconic spiral stairwell handrail of this building. Painted atop of this print are abstract responses to both the physical and mental architectures of this space. Projecting from the corner is a wooden extension that was built to mimic the shape of the projection of light made by the window that could not be caught on the cyanotype.
